I created this installation for the Migration Museum’s Departures exhibition in collaboration with Dr Michaela Benson.
A flowchart based on text from the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement and esoteric principles is reflected in an interview room mirror. Palindromes are transmuted through reflection from the benign to the strange and unsettling.
Audio based on interviews from Michaela’s research tells the lesser understood story of UK nationals resident in the EU27 and their battle for their rights and entitlements. Phrases are played both forward and backward, referencing the practice of backmasking.
